Cremona taught us a deep appreciation for the great masters of the past. In the violin-making school of that magical city, we had the opportunity to grow as professionals, immersed in history and enriched through exchanges with our colleagues

As cellists ourselves, we deeply understand the acoustic needs of musicians. Still performing in orchestras and ensembles and with a degree in conservatory, we are always striving to create instruments that bring out our best sound

Milos Seyda

Musical sensibility, fascination with the diverse colours of sound, and curiosity about the way materials can be artistically transformed are the main elements that make up my work. Established in Cremona in 2015, I focus mainly on the construction of violins, violas and cellos.

Origins

I come from Patagonia, Argentina. I grew up experiencing art and music in natural surroundings, starting to play the piano and the cello at a young age, and, later, to work with materials such as clay, metal and wood.

Musical training

I graduated from the University of Musical Arts in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and continued my studies at the Academy of Arts in Szczecin, Poland. I was awarded the highest grades possible for both degrees. During my career as a cellist I trained with teachers such as Jorge Perez Tedesco (Argentina), Myriam Santucci (USA), Eduardo Vassallo (UK), Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt (Germany), Tomasz Szczesny (Poland), and Paulo Gaio Lima (Portugal). I studied the main solo repertoire for this instrument and actively participated in orchestras such as the Amadeus Radio Orchestra of Buenos Aires, the Szczecin Philharmonic Orchestra and the Baltic Neopolis Orchestra.

Violin maker

My journey as a luthier began in 2010 in Paula Godoy’s workshop in Buenos Aires, who passed on to me the first notions of this art. In 2015 I began studying at the Cremona International Violinmaking School in the restoration class of maestro Alessandro Voltini. In 2017 I received my diploma. Since then I’ve worked to further my knowledge of making and restoring stringed instruments, specializing with world-renowned luthiers such as Patrick Robin, Francis Kuttner, Antoine Cauche, Fréderic Becker, Loeiz Honré, Claire Mollimard, and others.

Emma Draghi Poggi

The beginnings

I was born in Tuscany, in the Chianti hills near Florence. Since childhood, my dream has always been to become a luthier. In elementary school, whenever I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would always answer, “a luthier.” Many years have passed, but that childhood idea became a reality.

As a musician

I studied cello and ensemble music for several years, and I still actively pursue this passion today. I began my studies at Prima Materia, an association that sees music as a tool for equality and social justice, both locally and abroad, through international cooperation projects in which I had the pleasure of participating. Later on, I continued nurturing my love for music by joining various ensembles and musical groups.
As a luthier, playing a bowed instrument is essential for me to truly understand the needs of musicians and to help them find the timbre through which they can fully express themselves.

Violin maker

After completing my secondary education at a Scientific Liceo in Florence, I enrolled at the International School of Violin Making in Cremona. There, I studied under Maestri Riccarda Dacquati, Luca Baratto, Alessandro Commendulli, and Massimo Negroni.
In addition, I pursued further specialization outside of school under the guidance of Maestri Davide Sora, Luca Salvadori, Pierre Flavetta and Paolo Sorgentone.
I also attended international training courses with Piotr Pielaszek in Poznań (instrument making), Frédéric Becker in Montpellier (set-up), and Roberto Masini in Nice (instrument making).
Immediately after graduating as a luthier, I joined the Amorim Fine Violins workshop, where I had the opportunity to further refine my craftsmanship and interact with world-renowned musicians.
After some years working with them, I decided to open my own workshop to fully express my vision of violin making and bring my dream to life.
